Adaptive Optics for Optical Ground Station

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

This proposal will develop an optical ground station (OGS) suitable for surface-to-air andsurface-to-satellite communications. Adaptive optics (AO) to mitigate atmospheric effectswill be developed in conjunction with the ANU, which is recognised internationally in thefield. The OGS will be initially based on modifying an extant telescope which is currentlyhoused on the DST Group site in Edinburgh. Subsequently, a portable OGS will bedesigned which is suitable for use in trials work.
