Addressing time scarcity: Feasible strategies for a healthy future

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

Combining paid work and family care means many people are vulnerable to time scarcity, and lack of time is the number one reason why people say they don't exercise or eat healthy food. Time scarcity may therefore require families to make tradeoffs between working, caring, and their health, potentially amplifying inequities even when policy strives to reduce them. The problem is likely to grow as the population ages, yet few policies attend explicitly to time. The proposal addresses this omission. The program of research will provide new evidence and methods to address current policy tensions between maximising work force participation, improving gender equity and improving population health and wellbeing.
