Project Details
Description
The five Central Asian republics have played a significant role in the crisis in Afghanistan. This role will increase even further in the lead up to 2014 when most of the NATO forces are set to leave Afghanistan. The project examines security dynamics in the region and investigates the ways in which Afghanistan and its northern neighbours interact on issues ranging from Islamic militancy to ethnic secessionism to economic development. The project's research will enhance our understanding of the security environment in Afghanistan and Central Asia, as well as the potential for wider regional and international cooperation, for the benefit of the academic and policy-making community.
