    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

Western Desert peoples have initiated this collaborative research project to record and interpret the 'open' knowledge in two major Tjukurpa Songlines across the Martu, Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara lands. The team will focus on the story, song and dance; the graphic language of ancient rock art and modern visual arts; and the Indigenous management of cultural and natural heritage. The project brings together members of the NPY Women's Council, Ananguku Arts, Kanyirninpa Jukurrpa, the Australian National University, the Palya Foundation, the National Museum of Australia, the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities, and the South Australian Museum.
