An intensified optical readout for the CYGNUS-1 Time Projection Chamber

CYGNUS-1 is a prototype particle detector which is being used as a research and development test bed for a future large-scale dark matter experiment. The science case for the direction-sensitive technology being explored by CYGNUS-1 is extremely strong, and our group is in a unique position to leverage our existing investment and drive the international research effort forward. Our proposal would support the purchase of an image intensified camera to enhance the capabilities of CYGNUS-1. This upgrade would create a unique facility addressing key questions and informing the design of a future large-scale underground experiment to be built in Australia.
