Description
CoS and CHM have significant strength in malaria research from basic biology to drug andvaccine development. However, a critical gap in our capabilities is a lack of strong links withinstitutions in malaria-endemic countries. Such links would provide access to extremely valuableclinical samples and field data. The inclusion of field data boosts the quality of publications, whileaccess to samples can be leveraged to strengthen grant applications. These links will also enhance the potential for translation of our findings into clinically-meaningful settings and enhance the impact of ANU infectious disease research on global health. We therefore propose to set up a collaborative network with the KEMRI-Wellcome TrustResearch Program (KWTRP) based in Kilifi, Kenya.
