Australia's Engagement in the The Cherenkov Telescope Array

The fully-funded Cherenkov Telescope Array is a transformational multi-national facility in gamma-ray astronomy.It will be 10 times more sensitive than current instruments and provide a paradigm shift in understanding manychallenges in high energy astrophysics and in the makeup of dark matter. The facility is now in its constructionphase and full operations are expected from about 2029. This project will provide Australia's essentialcontributions to the facility's annual operations costs, recently approved enhancements to the facility, and providehardware to kickstart new and expanded research programs using Australia's optical and radio astronomytelescopes critical to the Cherenkov Telescope Array's flagships Key Science Projects.
