Project Details
Description
This project aims to significantly deepen the understanding of the phenomenon of radicalisation toward violentextremism by moving beyond static descriptions of what antecedents are present in those who radicalise todynamic causal explanations of why people radicalise. Using experimental and survey data, this project expects toidentify how radicalisation is enabled by cognitive changes resulting from the interactions between our socialenvironments, cognitions, and behavioural responses. Expected outcomes include modelling of the process(es) ofradicalisation, including the cognitions of those at risk, and benefits include increased empowerment ofpractitioners tasked with identifying and diverting those at risk of radicalising.
