Biobanks, Big Data and ME: establishing a global registry and biobank in Australia and using it for blood biomarkers research

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Accompanying the cardinal symptoms of chronic, unexplained fatigue and post-exertional malaise, ME/CFS patients experience diverse comorbidities of differing severity in different individuals. These varied clinical presentations could be accompanied by different patterns of blood biomarkers, perhaps reflecting different underlying cytopathological mechanisms. We therefore hypothesize that clinically different cohorts of ME/CFS patients exhibit different, distinguishable patterns of blood biomarkers.
