Description
There is currently a national housing shortage for hollow-nesting animals. Hollow-bearing trees haveseverely declined in the last century, and consequently more than 100 hollow-dependent Australian speciesare now threatened with extinction. Using recent innovative technology from the building industry, this project will design and implement artificial nest boxes as a proactive management tool to save one of the Australias most endangered and internationally important species. By coupling critical conservation with powerful research this work will provide the scientific foundation for implementing nest boxes as a practical and economically viable management solution to conserve and restore a large number of threatened native fauna.
