Brazilian Pre-Salt Consortium

The University carries out research into the structure of sedimentary core material by means of Micro X-ray Computed Tomography equipment and subsequent analysis of the images obtained ("Digital Core Analysis"). The University has established the Brazilian Pre-Salt Consortium to facilitate exchange between key industry partners and researchers involved in development of Digital Core Analysis technologies. In a 3 year program ANU and consortium partners aim to test upscaling workflows which systematically capture the effects of heterogeneity in core material on effective static and dynamic properties from pore to whole core scales. The focus will be on predictions in Brazilian carbonate pre-salt rocks.
