Bridging the gap: Expanding ANU capabilities in Near- to Mid-Range InfraRed Nanometre Phase Characterization and Imaging

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Photo-induced Force Microscopy (PiFM) is an emerging technique that characterizes and images molecules at 5 nm resolution. The current PiFM capabilities at RSES are limited by a gap in its laser capabilities, which excludes certain phases. This proposal is for a new laser to bridge this gap and enable new research directions identified by RSES, RSC, CECS as well as integrate with the existing analytical capacities offered by CAM. The additional laser will boost growth in exciting new research directions and world leading, cross-college HDR training opportunities throughout the university.
