    Project Details

    Description

Indonesia currently lacks reliable empirical data for measuring health indicators at district level, to assess progress against health-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), and to guide control of non-communicable diseases and injuries. A national Sample Vital Registration System (SRS), partly supported by a grant from the Global Fund against AIDS, Tuberculosis & Malaria (GFATM), is being established in 128 out of 640 districts, as a routine data source for these indicators. This Activity will establish capacity in Indonesian government and academic institutions to enhance the efficiency, quality and sustainability of the SRS. The resultant decentralisation of data management, quality control and analysis will also enable local capacity for data utilisation.
