Building models for complex data

This project will benefit Australian researchers in statistics and users of statistics (from fields as diverse as ecology, medicine, finance, agriculture and the social sciences) who encounter the forms of complex data considered in this project and who need to build models and make inferences from these data. It will develop a new framework for model selection and apply it to increase knowledge about model selection and make available new statistical methods and associated software for building models for complex data. The project will also strengthen international links, develop highly trained research scientists, and enable the world-class training of postgraduate students and honours students in an area of national importance.
