Description
Suicide is a leading cause of death in working age Australiansmore common than land transport accidents and skin cancerand it is the tenthmost common cause of death in Australian males overall. Suicide prevention efforts have been hamstrung by reliance on epidemiological riskfactors with limited predictive value, resulting in a failure to identify people at risk of suicide until it is too late. In this Centre of ResearchExcellence (CRESP II), we advocate for the implementation of a coordinated and multifaceted intervention strategy to provide a comprehensivesafety net that will detect people at risk of suicide earlier and thereby prevent trauma and save lives.
