Characterising the Utility of the SkyMapper Telescope for Surveys of Geo-Sat Orbits

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

Satellites in geo-synchronous orbits, such as Optus C1, the Optus D series and others, are of great importance to Australian communication networks. Keeping these assets safe is a National Security concern and doing so relies on surveying geo-sat orbits for debris and unknown bodies. This project investigates the utility of the ANU SkyMapper Telescope in searches for small bodies that could pose risks to important geo assets.
