Project Details
Description
We seek to use neutron scattering to study short range order in the GEASSe chalcogenide glasses, materials with direct application inphotonic device fabrication. Our synchrotron-based xray absorption spectroscopy measurements performed at the ANU are unable to differentiate between the 3 constituents due to comparable photo-electron scattering crtoss sections. In contrast neutron scattering cross sections of Ge. As & Se differ sufficiently to enable elemenatl identification. We will correlate complementary neutron & x-ray measurements to yield new insight on these technologically relevant materials
