Project Details
Description
The useful field of view (UFOV) task is one of the best available assessments of driving competency in older adults, because it strongly predicts the likelihood that a person will have a car crash. However, little is understood about the cognitive processes employed in completing the UFOV assessment. By administering the UFOV task alongside a robust battery of carefully selected cognitive assessments, this project seeks to offer a clearer and more concise explanation of the tasks cognitive underpinnings. Ultimately, this project aims to bridge the disconnect between practical driving competency assessments and more theoretical models of visual-cognitive processing.
