Continuous Variable Quantum Information Experiments

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

With this fellowship, the candidate intends to lead the Australian National University Quantum Optics experimental research program. The program aims at exploiting quantum entanglement, a phenomenon predicted by quantum theory, to facilitate a range of quantum information protocols and applications. These include quantum teleportation - noiseless transport of fragile quantum state; quantum cryptography - crypto-communication with absolute security; ultra-sensitive sensing - measurements with sensitivity exceeding the quantum noise limit; and nano-imaging - resolution of optical images beyond the diffraction limit. These applications are a few examples of how "quantum technology" can potentially revolutionize existing technology.
