Description
Understanding how the Australian region responded to global warming at the end of the last ice age is important for assessing the response to future climate change. However, poor dating of the appropriate climate archives has made this a highly controversial topic. We will apply the state of the art technique of exposure dating to key glacier sequences in New Guinea and New Zealand to address this issue. To ensure our ages are of the highest quality we will determine the production rates of the most important cosmogenic isotopes using a new site and methodology.
