Description
In consultation with the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, Professor Matthew Manningfrom the Australian National University and Professor Shane Johnson from the Dawes Centre forFuture Crime (University College London) propose three consecutive projects that will provide an evidence-base regarding the role cryptocurrency plays in the facilitation of money laundering. Thepurpose of undertaking these projects in sequential steps is to generate an evidence-base thatallows the ACIC to visualise crime processes and devise possible interventions at key stages wherecriminal actors are most vulnerable. An initial short-term project would involve extending on our preliminary efforts in understanding therole cryptocurrency plays in the facilitation of money laundering by undertaking an extensivefutures-oriented review.
