Deciphering the role of cell death effectors in frog chytrid fungi.

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

We will investigate the role of chytrid effectors in driving infection and colonisation in frogs, focusing on effectors that induce cell death (cell death effectors). First, we will use artificial intelligence-driven discovery to identify these effectors, leveraging conservation in three-di mensional structural homology to detect cell death domains commonly found in fungal and oomycete pathogens. Next, we will generate recombinant versions of these frog chytrid cell death effectors and determine their three-dimensional structures experimentally
