Project Details
Description
This project has been designed jointly with the Anindilyakwa Land Council (ALC). The ALC is the peak body representing Traditional Owners in the Groote Archipelago. As an initial step in pursuing its goals for developing a post-mining regional economy, the ALC is entering into a formal agreement to collaborate with ANU researchers to update their existing databases of Anindilyakwa population and community outcomes and to develop a sustainable data management infrastructure. In this way they aim to secure governance over Anindilyakwa data as a means of building their capacity for strategic regional planning and investment and to self-monitor future change in social and economic outcomes. Using existing de-identified data sets that the ALC will provide, the research will develop a statistical profile of recent change in demographic, social and economic indicators. Where appropriate, projections of future potential outcomes will be provided.
