Project Details
Description
The project builds on the earlier work of the Democratic Audit with a second comprehensive survey of Australian democracy. Delivered five years after the first main audit report, it will track significant changes in political equality, popular control, rights and quality of debate. It will include focused audits engaging with four major issues that confront Australian politics: political financing; the impact of new information and communication technologies on politics; gender; and how well democracy serves Indigenous Australians. In addition, the project provides a fresh look at the ideas and institutional choices that have shaped Australian democracy, using Audit data to open new debates about the design of democratic institutions.
