    Project Details

    Description

The plan to achieve this is to build and test a prototype optical guiding system in the laboratory. The Parties want to determine the forces exerted on a range of particles (including inactive virus particles) over a range of optical laser intensities and forms. They seek to improve the positional accuracy of particle trajectories and implement the system at scheduled beamtimes at the DESY FLASH. The long-term objectives of the collaboration are to develop the understanding of optically-induced forces exerted on particles and to apply that to produce concepts for improve particle delivery schemes for FEL experiments, in addition to disseminate the results - in particular to publish journal articles on this topic.
