Development of a Quantum Computer Based On Solid State Optical Impurity Sites

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

The use of optical impurity sites in solid-state hosts as a basis for a quantum computer will be investigated. This project will experimentally demonstrate and characterize all the functions necessary for the operation of a scalable quantum computer. A significant advantage of the current approach is that all these functions can be performed optically, circumventing the need for the complex fabrication found in other solid-state quantum computing schemes.
