Development of Robust Adaptive and Nonlinear Control Methodologies

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

Modern control systems need to be adaptive, i.e. have a capability to redesign themselves in the light of environmental changes. Many adaptive control designs however can produce behaviour contrary to that desired, and are dangerous to use. This project will develop methodologies for the design of adaptive control systems, with a focus on guaranteeing that the on-going redesigns do not induce deleterious effects. Some of the work will be targeted at defence applications, though the broad thrust envisages the generation of widely applicable techniques.
