Discovering thermally stable wheat through exploration of leaf respiration in combination with photosystem II capacity and heat tolerance

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

This project is to build on these foundations by, for the first time, including a high-throughput indicator of the capacity for quantifying the temperature dependence of photosynthetic O2 uptake and extrapolating our findings to a wider array of germplasm under real-world field conditions. Genotypes with superior energy efficiency can then identified via comparison of photosynthetic and respiratory O2 exchange, and PSII thermal stability, with hyperspectral signatures providing an opportunity to increase the scale of genetic/environment screenings.
