Description
We propose to design and build novel electrometers with exceptionally wide dynamic range for measuring isotopic ratios in mass spectrometers. These electrometers will be used, first, in the SHRIMP series large ion microprobes, and will be made available as an upgrade for various other types of isotope ratio mass spectrometers: thermal ionisation, inductively coupled plasma instruments, and gas source electron bombardment mass spectrometers
