Project Details
Description
We cannot understand experience and thought unless we understand how they make knowledge possible. So the study of the mind is closely bound up with questions in the theory of knowledge. The aim of this Project is to understand the role of experience and thought in the acquisition of knowledge by addressing three philosophical questions about perception and inference. The significance of the Project extends beyond epistemology to the philosophical study of mind, language and cognition, to the methodology of philosophy, and to the position of philosophy as standing in close relation to both humanities and sciences. The outcomes will include a new direction for research on mind and knowledge and a major international research partnership.
