Description
The proposal is for equipment to build the worlds first quantum repeater for long-range quantumcommunications. The repeater is an essential element for a global quantum communicationnetwork, which will enable secure data transmission via quantum encryption and the networking ofquantum computers. By allowing the distribution of quantum entanglement in long-lived quantummemories separated by unprecedented distances, the repeater also opens up the opportunity forfundamental studies of quantum mechanics.
