Project Details
Description
Worldwide, initiatives to enhance the engagement of Indigenous Peoples and knowledge in the broader conservation effort are increasing. Despite these commitments, it is often unclear how Indigenous and non-Indigenous knowledge and techniques can be respectfully combined to produce shared outcomes. This project aims to address this gap in knowledge through literature reviews, case studies with Indigenous co-researchers and broader consultation, to develop best practice models for enhanced two-way ecological research to inform Indigenous natural and cultural resource management in Australia. The outcomes will have national to international reach considering the potential contributions to conservation and Indigenous poverty alleviation goals.
