Fitness Consequences of Natural Sex-Reversal in an Australian Alpine Skink (Acritoscincus duperreyi)

Sex determination can be based on genetic factors (Genetic Sex Determination - GSD), such as sex chromosomes, or it can be influenced by the environment (Environmental Sex Determination - ESD). Evolution of sex-determining systems has remained elusive but species where both systems co-occur provide excellent models to understand how these transitions might come about.
