Project Details
Description
This fundamental research program aims to develop new approaches to control light in integrated photonic structures composed of flexible nano-scale optical waveguides though a combination of complimentary approaches involving intrinsic and opto-mechanical nonlinearities together with slow-light enhancement. The project will combine innovative theoretical investigations with fabrication of nanophotonic structures towards laboratory demonstration of novel physical regimes of nonlinear light dynamics. This research will provide a solid basis for further development of future technologies for integrated optical circuits with applications in communication networks, computing platforms, and laser-based radar systems.
