From plume source to hotspot: quantifying mixing in mantle plumes and its implications for the nature of deep-mantle heterogeneity

Mantle plumes are upwellings of abnormally hot rock that carry a message from Earth's deep-mantle tovolcanic hotspots at Earth's surface. In this project, cutting-edge computational models will be used todecipher this message, providing fundamental new insights into the lowermost mantle's thermo-chemicalstructure and its surface expression.
