Project Details
Description
Global energy and security challenges are increasing the focus on nuclear science. Next generation accelerators of exotic nuclei far from stability are new tools to advance nuclear physics, astrophysics, medical technology and next generation nuclear reactors and fuels. Understanding the reactions of exotic nuclei underpins these future research and technological opportunities. Key questions will be answered by combining a new Australian exotic beam capability with innovative concepts to probe quantum interactions of these nuclei. Building national research and training capacity in a strategic area and enhancing strong international links, this project allows Australia to take the lead in, and benefit from a new area of scientific endeavor.
