Project Details
Description
Generic Content-based Image Retrieval has a wide range of applications. Advance in modern computer vision and pattern recognition techniques in the last decades has equipped us with efficient and powerful tools to tackle this difficult problem. The Partner Organisation in this proposal is developing techniques for content-based retrieval of news pictures from large image collections. The aim of this Linkage project proposal is to study generic content-based image retrieval by employing newly developed local invariant feature based image recognition approaches, with the focus on news pictures. It is expected to attain better retrieval performance and to help the Partner Organisation deliver high-quality services to the society.
