Genomic medicine for Indigenous Australians

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

The increased health burden experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is anything but uniform. One example is the presentation of renal disease in the Tiwi Islands which is considered to have a distinct aetiology to both the wider Indigenous community and the general population. Identifying the genetic contribution to such regional variation requires an account of the underlying genetic relationships within and between Indigenous communities.
