Guidestar Laser for Adaptive Optics in Astronomy and Space Awareness

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

The ground-based telescopes used to study the universe, image satellites, track space debris, and perform ground-space laser communications all require laser guide star adaptive optics (LGS AO) to remove the blurring due to atmospheric turbulence. This MEC grant will supplement a LIEF grant aiming to procure a Semiconductor Guidestar Laser that will be used to create the first sodium laser guide star in Australia.
