    Description

Expert human investigators must cope when information is uncertain unreliable or inadequate, because absence of statistical certainty is not a reason for postponing or failing to respond to potential major harms to people property or our society. Such harms include terrorism, natural disasters, violent and financial crime. Possibility theory is a mathematical theory for dealing with certain types of uncertainty and is an alternative to probability theory. We use advanced possibility techniques to combine info. which is unreliable uncertain or both, and information dissemination to enhance info. which is inadequate for reliable probability distribution estimation. We combine these to produce an effective aid for human investigators.
