Health and sustainability: Australia in a global context

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

This project aims to identify global and domestic risks, obstacles and adaptations relevant to sustainable population health in Australia. Many eco-social forces, related to sustainability, threaten Australian health and well-being. Global elements include rising costs of energy and food, climate change and the diversion of food for biofuel. These interact with social factors which will likely greatly increase international migration. Domestic factors include a growing and ageing Australian population, with high expectations and increasing international interdependence. Greater understanding of these forces, communicated in multiple ways, will enhance Australian capacity to recognise, respond to, reduce and adapt to these risks.
