    Project Details

    Description

Semiconductor lasers are a critical enabling technology for many scientific applications, particularly for quantumscience including quantum computing and quantum sensing. While suitable devices are available for commonindustrial applications such as optic fibre communications, printing, displays, and laser cutting and welding, suchdevices are not suitable for scientific applications which require broad wavelength tuning, high spatial beamquality, and narrow linewidth. This project will establish the capability to manufacture application-specificsemiconductor lasers using existing facilities in Australia to enhance our world-leading quantum science research, and establish a viable export-dominated high-tech manufacturing business.
