High efficiency III-V solar cells based on low-dimensional quantum confined heterostructures

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

Solar cells based on low dimensional III-V semiconductors are promising candidates for the 3rd generation photovoltaics with predicted high efficiency of 63%. This project aims at investigating the photovoltaic properties of the III-V semiconductor materials with the incorporation of quantum confined heterostructures such as quantum wells (QWs) and quantum dots (QDs). The fundamental understanding of the III-V QW/QD solar cell operation and development of novel solar cell structures through this project is crucial for the significant improvement of III-V solar cell efficiency.
