Project Details
Description
The project aims to create new approaches to one-way optical circuits by an innovative approach that harnesses nanoscale light-sound interactions in a new platform for isolators. The project should develop new nanofabrication techniques and capabilities and transform understanding of the physics of one-way photonic processes. Expected outcomes include enhanced design and fabrication capabilities for ultra-compact optical isolators and circulators that shield sensitive optical components, increase the capabilities of photonic circuits, and enable a new class of ultra-stable on-chip laser sources. These new high performance photonic circuits should benefit telecommunications, radar, defence, and sensing applications.
