    Description

How does oil, water and gas flow through porous rocks? Can high level nuclear waste be safely isolated in geological formations and how will a contaminant migrate from a source? Why is ink-jet printing sharp on some papers while not on others? Significant improvements in the understanding of these questions can be gained through the characterisation of structure and visualisation of flow within porous materials. We propose the construction of a unique high-resolution X-ray CT facility which will allow this to be achieved. The facility will greatly assist Australian researchers in developing leading edge technology in these important areas.
