Project Details
Description
The desktop project approach in this study is to undertake a literature review and document industry and experimental experience with melting low carbon DRIs and cold HBI using electric furnace technology. The next stage of the study will involve developing mass and energy balance (including an estimate of the Global Warming Potential (GWP)) for the two scenarios identified above (in the of EAF melting including a range of DRI/Scrap ratios in these balances) using pre-existing semi-empirical relationships where available and/or using thermodynamic software as required. To allow comparison with a parallel study by ANU on fluidised beds, this study will focus on shaft DRI processes.
