    Description

Nonalcoholic fatty liver associated with obesity and diabetes is common and an important contributor to rapidly increasing rates of liver cancer. The applicants have established a model of obesity, diabetes and fatty liver in mice with accelerated onset liver cancer. Providing an exercise wheel prevented this early-onset of liver cancer. This proposal will clarify how exercise prevents liver cancer, so the protective mechanisms can be harnessed in the form of drugs to prevent liver cancer.
