Identifying functional biomarkers in eyes at risk of vision loss in Type 2 Diabetes

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

To build on discoveries on new biomarkers in at-risk eyes with Diabetic Macular Oedema (DMO). Visual acuity (VA) is a poor indicator to describe functional impairment in DMO. DMO near the fovea may be sight-threatening bu is not flagged by VA. Multifocal Pupillographic Objective Perimetry (mfPOP) has advanced the objective assessment of macular function and has made it possible to evaluate retinal sensitivity in eyes at risk of vision loss from very early-stage diabetic retinopathy.
