Implementing biodiversity metrics

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Description

The existing collaboration between ANU and NSW DCCEEW has resulted in significant progress in upscaling vegetation site data to generate statewide maps of key attributes describing vegetation integrity relative to contemporary reference states. To date, the collaboration has resulted in development of several workflows, published model predictions, and two draft research papers. These research outputs may be used by NSW DCCEEW to inform environmental decision making, such as in biodiversity offsetting markets. Overall, this progress demonstrates that the lead Chief Investigator has knowledge, experience, and resources to meet the scope of the proposed project. To fully realise the potential operational applications of these products, NSW DCCEEW has approached us with funding to support further research related to improving and operationalising existing modelling workflows.
