Project Details
Description
The aim of the project is to improve the science range of advanced gravitational wave detectors such as Advanced LIGO by developing, prototyping and implementing a combination of tuneable bandwidth signal enhancement with output modecleaner noise reduction. The astrophysics that will follow from the detailed information contained in the data from such sensitive detectors has the potential to revolutionise our understanding of current gravitational wave sources such as spinning neutron stars, black hole collisions and even the formation of the universe and discover new, electromagnetically quiet astrophysical objects.
